Why RapidXen?

Based on some of the best equipment available, and some of the most proven grid computing technology, the RapidXen server cluster can easily host your servers without worry of downtime or being ridiculously slow. Our virtual server solution, based on Xen, allows for the quick provision of your service on our cluster. Since it's a virtual server, you get full root access.

RapidXen also offers you a choice of location for your VPS. This is something that many other VPS providers don't offer.

For more information, see Technical Specifications.

Why RapidXen instead of a dedicated server?

By using RapidXen instead of a dedicated server, you instantly gain superior stability (in the event of a hardware failure, we can just move your VPS to a different machine) for a overall less cost of ownership.

Additionally, many dedicated servers are hosted on cheap, unreliable hardware. We think that sucks, and at RapidXen, we use quality Supermicro servers.

What can I do with a virtual server?

Virtual servers, also known as VPSes, are a more cost effective alternative to dedicated hosting, and provide superior availability and reliability over shared hosting solutions like webhosts and shell providers. In most cases, a VPS is just as good as a more expensive dedicated server solution.

For example, you can do many things with a VPS from RapidXen like:

  • Run a popular gameserver
  • Host a custom web application and have full control over how the webserver runs
  • Host ruby on rails, django, and other web framework based apps
  • Host an IRC server or a SILC server or a Jabber server
  • Use multiple VPSes from multiple providers to create a scalable content distribution network
  • Run a DNS server
  • Run a mail server set up exactly as you want it (no spam please, though)

Obviously you can do much more than that too, with a RapidXen VPS the possibilities are endless.
